This policy explains what personal data HomeDominican handles, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights. We apply Dominican Law 172-13 on the protection of personal data and, when you visit from the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible
The data controller is the operator of HomeDominican, identified by legal name, tax ID (RNC) and address in the legal notice. For any privacy matter, write to privacidad@homedominican.com.
What data we handle
If you write to us or ask for information
- Forms (property enquiry, contacting a professional, free call, PDF guide, saved property, contact and error reports): name, email, phone or WhatsApp if you give it, your message, the page you wrote from, language, date and, when our network provider supplies it, your country (just the country code, not your IP address).
- Your consent: the box you tick when you send, with its date.
If you just browse
- Listing statistics: when you open a property or tap WhatsApp, we record which property or professional it was, the date, language and country. We don't store your IP or any identifier, and we store nothing on your device to count it. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control or "Do Not Track" signal, we count nothing.
- Technical data: your IP address and browser are held for a few minutes in server memory to prevent abuse and to count one visit per listing; they are not saved in our database. Server logs may keep them briefly for security.
If you are a professional with an account
- Name, login email and password (stored hashed, never in plain text), role, city, company, languages, bio, photo, phone, WhatsApp, contact email, your listings and their photos, and your listings' statistics and reports.
- Your profile and listings are published on the site once verified: that is what the directory is for.
What we use it for, and on what basis

We don't use your data for advertising, we don't build advertising profiles and we make no automated decisions that affect you. We don't send newsletters or marketing emails; if we ever do, we will ask for separate consent first, as Dominican Law 310-14 requires.
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your data. It is only shared with:
- The professional you choose: if you write from a listing or profile, we send your name, email, phone and message to that agent or professional so they can reply. From then on they are also responsible for your data and may only use it to handle your enquiry.
- Service providers who may only use it to serve us:
- Microsoft Azure (site hosting and database, in the United States).
- Our email delivery provider.
- Anthropic (United States): drafts professionals' monthly reports from aggregate figures about their listings. It receives no visitor data.
- Third-party services your browser loads, which receive your IP when showing you content: maps (OpenStreetMap Foundation, UK), the map library (cdnjs, by Cloudflare) and, only if you open a 3D tour, jsDelivr. They set no cookies.
- Services you choose to visit: if you tap WhatsApp or the call-booking link, you go to WhatsApp (Meta) or the booking service, whose own policies apply.
- Authorities: when a law or court order requires it.
Weather, nearby places and the exchange rate are fetched by our server (Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap/Overpass and ExchangeRate-API) without sending any of your data.
International transfers
Some providers are outside the Dominican Republic and the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States. We make these transfers with your consent (article 80 of Law 172-13) and, for EU visitors, with GDPR safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider has joined it.
How long we keep it
- Form submissions: 24 months from when you send them. They are then deleted automatically, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
- Statistics: they identify no one and are kept while useful.
- Professional accounts: for as long as the account exists. If you close it, we take down your profile and listings and keep only what the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time for:
- Access: to know what data we hold about you.
- Correction: to fix it.
- Deletion: to erase it.
- Objection: to stop using it.
- And, if you are in the EU, portability and restriction of processing.
You can also withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what was done before. Write to privacidad@homedominican.com from the email you used; if needed, we'll ask you to confirm your identity. We reply free of charge, as soon as possible and within the legal deadline.
If you are not satisfied, in the Dominican Republic you can go to court through a habeas data action. In the European Union you can complain to your data protection authority; in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).
US residents
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising based on your activity on other sites, and we honor the Global Privacy Control signal. You can exercise the same rights of access, correction and deletion by writing to the address above.
Children
HomeDominican is meant for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from minors; if you believe a minor sent us their data, write to us and we'll delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, restricted access to data and providers with recognized security measures. No system is infallible: if an incident put your data at risk, we would let you know where appropriate.
Cookies
We set no cookies for visitors. We only store your light or dark mode choice in your browser. Details are in our cookies and storage policy.
Changes to this policy
If we change it, we'll update the date above and, if the change is significant, announce it on the site.
